Solar street lamps for Ghana’s roads

Solar Lighting International has created a high-quality all-in-one street lamp that is now offered for delivery to the country of Ghana. These solar street lights are designed to function as a stand-alone installation and require no modification to any existing infrastructure, which allows for an easier installation with lower planning and development costs.

At Solar Lighting International Inc., we have been designing and implementing lighting projects around the globe since 2004. This experience has enabled us to adjust our design and develop a highly durable and reliable product. We are excited to offer our new Stealth solar lighting system to the country of Ghana.

From Accra to Kumasi, our innovative system is perfect for lighting city blocks and highways. Major ports like the Port of Tema and Port of Saltpond could take advantage of our lighting as well.

Often our lights are used for new municipal developments. This allows cities to offer commercial lighting in new subdivisions without the added cost of trenching and wiring for the street lights, while promoting energy efficiency. Other cities choose our lights as a more environmentally-friendly replacement for their existing street lamps. Due to the ease of installation, upgrading the existing street lights in a city to our all-in-one system is a very attractive option.

When a large number of city lights have been converted to solar power, it relieves energy demands on the grid, allowing that energy to be used elsewhere and saving grid expansion costs. It also provides a more weather-resistant lighting option: since our lights are not grid-dependent, large amounts of the grid can go offline due to a weather event and the solar-powered lamps can continue to run.

Our Stealth solar lights are fully integrated and designed to be installed without the need for additional wiring between the solar panel and the lamp. We also use high-quality components and patented technology to create a more reliable lighting system. Below is a brief overview of our solar street lamp and its components, and we include downloadable brochures that contain full technical specifications. You are also welcome to contact us.

A better all-in-one light

Our unique patented all-in-one street lamp design implements the lessons we have learned through years of solar lamp installation. This latest design uses advances in solar technology to create a more compact solar light system that is easier to install. The solar panels, battery, and power-tracking modules are integrated into one housing, so these fully-integrated systems do not require any wiring between the solar panel and the lamp. Maintenance crews can install this light after minimal training, which helps reduce costs and makes it easier to convert your city to the latest solar street lighting.

  • 100% grid independent
  • Designed to withstand high winds
  • Designed to work in high temperatures
  • Optimized for lower maintenance requirements and costs

Engineered to perform

The lightbars on our Stealth lights are adjustable to ±40°. To adjust them, you simply loosen the screw on the lightbar and use the degree angle markings printed on the housing to set the exact lighting pattern desired. We’ve also learned that proper ventilation improves the performance of street lamps, so our ventilation system is designed to allow ample airflow while still discouraging dust buildup on the components.

One of the advantages of this light is that it is easy to install. The solar panels, battery, and power-tracking modules are integrated into one housing, which makes it easier to install them on your lamp poles without any specialized electrician training. We can also supply solar light poles: ours are dipped and galvanized to make them resilient in all weather conditions, and you can order them with the lights or as a stand-alone product, making this an easy, one-stop purchase. It’s common to see our lights in use along highways and at ports. We offer three lighting options for our Stealth systems: 7,400 lumens, 14,800 lumens, and 22,200 lumens.

One of the features of our Stealth series is the double built-in motion detectors, offering detection up to 15 meters on each side of the light. This is a great way to conserve power consumption while still offering light when it’s needed. There are several ways to program the motion sensors depending on your needs. In Default Mode, the light automatically operates at 50% brightness dusk to dawn. In Sensor Mode, when motion is detected the light increases to 100% until no motion is detected, then returns to 30% brightness. This innovative design feature allows our solar street lights to be used in low-light conditions and helps them perform at optimal levels during cloudy weeks.

Reliable by design

Phillips 5050 LEDs

The LEDs we use are an important part of our system. We use Phillips 5050 LED chips, which produce exceptionally bright lumens at more than 190 lumens per watt.

A Better Panel

Our monocrystalline panel allows us to offer up to 50% more power production per unit area, so our panels outperform expectations. The design is also more durable and resistant to wind and dust, providing more consistent lighting with less downtime.

Patented Charge Controller

While the lightbars and solar panels are both excellent, their performance requires an excellent charge controller. Ours uses patented MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) technology to increase charge current by up to 30% and store more energy.

Dual Motion Detectors

Double built-in sensors detect up to 15 meters on each side, with programmable dusk-to-dawn modes that conserve power while still providing light when it’s needed.
