Upgrade to Solar Lighting
Stop renting the
same 30-year-old
utility lights.
HOAs have paid their local utility for old, outdated, inefficient lights for decades, often the same fixtures they had 30+ years ago, at higher rates than ever. The utility rarely upgrades without a new, more expensive 5- or 10-year contract, and takes its time on maintenance. Replacing those lights with solar LED from Solar Lighting International gives your community modern, green technology and a long-term fixed cost.
Long-Term Fixed Cost
Replace ever-rising utility rates with a one-time investment and a predictable, fixed long-term cost for your community’s lighting.
No New Utility Contracts
Going solar eliminates new long-term utility contracts, and the higher rates that arrive with every renewal.
Could Lower HOA Dues
Removing a recurring utility line item from the budget could lower your annual HOA dues over the life of the system.
20+ Year Design Life
Solar Lighting International designs solar lighting systems with 20 or more years in mind before the need for replacement.
Beautiful, consistent light across the community, with no trenching and no monthly power bill.
Solar lighting for HOAs
Before You Go Solar
A few things to
take into consideration.
Going solar in an HOA is a construction project. Understanding your budget and pole-installation costs up front is the key to planning a smooth upgrade.
Solar Is an Investment
The utility spreads payments over a 5-year contract, but your cost is about the same at the end of it. With solar, you won’t be required to sign a new contract at a higher rate in 5 years.
Plan a Budget
Expect to budget from $665 to $1,400 per upgraded light pole, depending on your configuration and site requirements.
Installer, Not Electrician
Our most common systems require no wiring, so no electrical contractor is needed. Plan on a contractor or skilled landscaping crew with a 10–14-inch auger able to dig up to 5 feet deep, depending on pole selection and wind zone.
Who Owns the Poles?
If you’re under a utility contract, the utility likely owns the poles and will remove them when you cancel. Budget $700–$1,300 per new pole depending on wind zone and city requirements.
Hurricane Zone & Existing Poles
Sites in a hurricane zone will require new poles. Unless you have wood poles, existing poles usually can’t take the added weight of a solar upgrade, though the Stealth 40 can work with existing top-of-pole-mounted fixtures.
Poles & Fixture Look
The most cost-effective option is direct burial: no concrete or foundation. Composite fiberglass and aluminum poles look best and are maintenance-free. For an ornamental look, staying with the utility is usually cheaper; a more progressive look saves money and can be brighter.

Finding an installer for solar lighting can be a challenge, and many companies are resellers or distributors who can’t provide a turnkey solution. Solar Lighting International manufactures its own product line and has cultivated working relationships with excellent installing contractors around the world, so you work with an experienced manufacturer through the entire process.
In Existing Neighborhoods
Retrofit solar into your existing streets.
The question we’re asked most is whether our solar light can be retrofitted to existing poles. Our Stealth All-In-One system mounts quickly to most existing poles, and the ease of installation is what gets customers most excited. Unlike competitor systems that need an electrician for extra wiring, Stealth ships ready to mount out of the box.
