Grid-independent street lighting, delivered
Solar Lighting International, Inc. is excited to offer its innovative solar street lighting designs to the country of Chad. These solar LED street lights function independently, with no need for infrastructure changes.
We’ve worked on solar street lighting projects around the globe. Our lights are used by municipalities that need fast installation and easy implementation of grid-independent lighting, needs generally driven by growth in new areas where an electric grid has yet to be established or is challenging to expand. A grid-independent system has the advantage of surviving adverse weather events while continuing to provide a reliable source of light.
We’ve also helped cities convert their grid-dependent lighting to the more energy-efficient solar street lighting design to help alleviate existing energy loads. This can help municipalities meet their environmentally-friendly goals while improving the quality of life for their residents. Our Stealth solar lights are designed to be easy to install while eliminating the need for wiring, a design that also helps the light survive harsh weather conditions while reducing maintenance needs.
Our goal is to provide a reliable lighting solution that has lower maintenance costs with more uptime. Because of our innovative approach, we’ve been able to offer a more efficient system, relying on patented products that work together in a cohesive design that can save more energy while offering a longer lifespan.
Engineered to withstand the environment
Our lights are designed to endure the environment and weather found in Chad, giving you a robust, long-lasting, reliable solar light. Solar Lighting International offers lights that are:
- 100% grid independent
- Designed to withstand high winds
- Designed to work in high temperatures
- Optimized for lower maintenance requirements and costs
A better all-in-one light
We’ve created a few different solar street light systems through the years, and our new all-in-one street light design brings new features in an easy-to-install format. Below is a brief overview of our products, followed by downloadable technical literature with more detailed specifications. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out.
No-Wiring Installation
Solar panel, battery, power-tracking module, and light modules are built into one housing, so these lights install with no wiring required.
Philips LED Bars
After testing several options, we settled on the Philips >190 lumen-per-watt LED chips for efficient, dependable output.
Adjustable Optics
Each light bar is fully adjustable up to 50 degrees: loosen the bolts and pivot the bar inside the housing to dial in distribution.
Ventilated, Dust-Sealed
The housing provides the airflow that extends lifespan while keeping the light well-protected from dust with an IP65 rating.
Light when it’s needed, savings when it’s not
The Stealth series carries double built-in motion detectors, offering detection up to 15 meters on each side of the light, a great way to conserve power while still delivering light on demand. The sensors can be programmed several ways depending on your needs, and the design lets our lights perform at optimal levels through the low-light conditions of northern climates and cloudy weeks.
- Default Mode: automatically operates at 50% brightness from dusk to dawn
- Sensor Mode: motion raises the light to 100%, then returns to 30% once motion stops
- Standard output options: 7,400 / 14,800 / 22,200 lumens
- Used along highways and in seaports worldwide
A better panel and a patented controller
The biggest risk to a street light’s solar panel is wind damage. To mitigate it, we use a monocrystalline panel that can survive high winds, dust storms, and environmental damage, paired with a robust mounting structure built for some of the toughest storms on the planet. Our charge controller uses patented MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) technology, increasing charge current by up to 30% over conventional controllers to deliver more power at a reasonable cost. Because of the improved design, our panels can produce electricity at high temperatures and in low-light conditions, and they produce more power out of each sunlight hour for more consistent lighting. When combined with our monocrystalline panels, the charge controllers help ensure a higher solar yield and a longer battery life: a system that delivers superior lighting at a reasonable cost.
- Up to 50% more power per unit area from an improved panel design
- Reduced voltage-temperature coefficient for output in high heat and low light
- MPPT charging adds up to 30% more charge current
- Higher solar yield and longer battery life when paired together
